Features and Amenities

Ace worked with New York firm Roman & Williams to design the hotel interiors. Their aesthetic mixes objects, lighting and finishes from different eras to reflect a sense of unconventionality and freedom. While the lobby is layered and historical, the rooms are more efficient. A clothes rack Roman & Williams made from bent plumbing pipes with hanging steel boxes replaces a closet, and references the neighborhood’s fashion-world history. Pipes also appear in the bath accessories and desk legs, showing how stock materials can be re-appropriated to make something elegant but simple, unfussy and ultimately anti-design. Chalkboard paint on the walls and paintings & murals by emerging artists individualize each room.

Rooms at Ace are divided into sizes ranging from small to large, and also offer options lofts, cheap rooms and bunk rooms in hostel style. Small rooms have either a full, queen or king size bed with private bathrooms, vintage furniture, and complimentary high speed wireless internet as well as a fully stocked mini bar and refrigerator. Some of these rooms include a Smeg refrigerator. Medium rooms are fairly spacious rooms (up to 330 sq. ft.) with a full, queen or king size bed and private bathroom. THE BRESLIN BAR & DINING ROOM

April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman, owners of Michelin starred restaurant, The Spotted Pig, opened their new English-style restaurant The Breslin inside Ace Hotel New York. The hearty, meat-centric menu emphasizes artisanal products, small growers and farmers, and seasonality. The Breslin menu embraces “nose-to-tail” cuisine methodologies and offers handmade terrines, sausages and charcuterie. Rich, salty, roasted flavours predominate. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

STUMPTOWN COFFEE ROASTERS

Stumptown is a Portland, Oregon based coffee purveyor (now with a roastery in Red Hook) committed to sourcing, roasting and brewing the best coffees available anywhere. They have close partnerships with farms and believe that working together year after year results in the highest level of quality. Stumptown has exceptionally high standards for serving coffee, too, so the drinks youâll get at the café are consistently simple and exquisite. Stumptown provides coffee for room service orders, available 24 hours a day.

THE JOHN DORY

More bar than restaurant, the John Dory is a casual, seafood-focused spot that recreates the lively feel of turn-of-the-century oyster bars. Sasha Petraske of Milk & Honey came up with the cocktails. Chefs April Bloomfield of the Breslin and Josh Even of the Spotted Pig design and create the food, showing a commitment to sustainable seafood throughout the menu. There’s counter seating and a menu of small and shareable seafood dishes, all under $25.

NO. 7 SUB SHOP

No. 7 serves classic submarine sandwiches made with carefully chosen and prepared ingredients, with a few curveballs thrown in to keep things interesting. There are house-made cookies and sodas too. Catering and delivery are available.
