Andaz 5th Avenue is a luxury hotel located Midtown Manhattan. The Andaz experience begins the moment you arrive through the bronze-colored doors on 41st Street and are greeted by an Andaz Host. Have a drink in the lounge while checking in via handheld PC, or simply en-route to your room. Arrival is at your pace, your style. The interior of Andaz 5th Avenue is inspired by New York City. Within the limestone and brick façade of the historic 1916 Rogers Peet Building – once a men’s retail store –Tony Chi has created spaces inspired by the high-ceilings and solidity of the city’s pre-war apartments and the moments that characterize the city in the minds of New Yorkers.
Features and Amenities
The ground and second floors of the hotel are open spaces; a facade of floor-to-ceiling glass framed in limestone echoes the library across the street. The spaces might remind you of the city on a rainy day or the moment right before dawn breaks when the streets are silent, and New York is all yours. Like many of New York’s most passionate art-collecting residents, the hotel prides itself on having curated its spaces with work that evokes the dynamic energy of its locale: 14-foot brilliant vermilion acrylic murals of figures communicating with each other by Carlos Capelán glow like fire through the windows on 41st Street. A white, eight-foot-high white marble and resin Nick Hornby sculpture first appears to be a modernist sculpture, but its real influences from the neighborhood quickly unfold as you “read” it: Look at the sculpture this way, it’s a bit of the bronze Gertrude Stein statue from Bryant Park; that way, it’s a piece of the urns that flank the New York Public Library; keep looking – it’s the Broken Obelisk sculpture by Barnett Newman in the Museum of Modern Art.
New York loft-style guestrooms complement the hotel’s unique design elements reminiscent of pre-war New York apartments. Expect 12’ floor-to-ceiling windows with views of 5th Avenue and the New York Public Library, travertine marble bathrooms with porcelain foot baths, and some of the largest guestrooms in New York City from 322 square feet. Many of the 36 spacious suites offer private balconies or landscaped terraces.

The hotel’s in-house restaurant, The Shop, is located at the corner of 5th Avenue and 41st Street and features dishes created and inspired by foods that come from farmers and producers around the state. There’s also The bar, downstairs, which is cocktail heaven, warm and cozy with deep woods and lots of red tones. When it comes to business, the Andaz Lounge features a unique communal workspace complete with power outlets and WiFi; convivial but private at the same time. The hotel also boasts a fitness center open 24 hours, as well as a on-site library.
Location
Andaz 5th Avenue is located steps away from some of New York City’s most famous icons: The Beaux-Arts landmark “main branch” building of the New York Public Library is right across the street from this Fifth Avenue Manhattan hotel; the Empire State Building is just a few blocks away; and a short stroll will take you to Central Park and its famous zoo. The Bryant Park neighborhood, which hosted Fashion Week for a decade, is not only one of New York’s most fashionable, but also its most walkable areas. It is full of outdoor tables and meeting places (and famously packed with the international food trucks that draw a busy lunchtime crowd in midtown; you’ll find everything on wheels, from shawarma to schnitzel). The F and M trains are right on the corner of the hotel; walk a block over to Times Square and you’ll find almost every subway available in Manhattan. This centralized location is great; you get the beautiful views of fashionable Bryant Park as well as the convenience of Midtown and Times Square.
