Location
The Hotel Gansevoort is located in the trendy Meatpacking District neighborhood of Manhattan. Formerly the site of large meat factories (where the area gets its name), the neighborhood is now chock full of expensive boutiques and chic eateries. French eatery Pastis finds its home here, as do Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander McQueen and other high fashion designers. Once a fringe neighborhood, the cobblestone Meatpacking District has become so saturated with restaurants, clubs and boutiques that a glamorous hotel now fits right in. The hotel is close to the L train, which goes crosstown on 14th Street, as well as the A C and E trains, which run up and down the west side. Rising high above the West Village and the Meatpacking District, the hotel offers spectacular views of the Hudson. If you’re looking to see and be seen, this is the place to do it.
