The Carlton – NoMad Hotels

The Carlton is a luxury hotel located in NoMad (North of Madison Square Park) Manhattan. Located in a gorgeous Beaux Arts building, the Carlton was built over a century ago, and back in the day, helped to transform the Midtown neighborhood into one of the city’s most desirable areas. Today, the area, referred to as NoMad, boasts a bevy of hotels, including Ace Hotel, MAVE hotel and more. The Carlton’s new, modernized look makes it a centerpiece of the NoMad neighborhood located north of the Flatiron building and south of Herald Square. Guests are pleasantly surprised by the luxury hotel’s seamless integration of old-world charm, carried over from the building’s Beaux Arts beginnings, and modern flare. Guests of The Carlton can experience the hotel’s unparalleled service and luxurious amenities, secluded in a unique urban setting and perfect for a romantic getaway to Manhattan.

The parlor in these suites also features a dining table with four chairs. There is one bathroom in this suite with a separate shower and bathtub.  The penthouse suite, the hotel’s largest suite, boasts a 180 degree view of the city’s skyline. These luxury Manhattan hotel suites, located on the hotel’s Penthouse floor, are over 1,000 square feet of space each. Both suites feature a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with 1 King bed. Both bathrooms feature a jacuzzi tub, stand alone separate shower and a flat screen television. The parlor also features a dining table with six chairs.

The Carlton Hotel offers a  full array of services, like same-day dry cleaning, room service and valet parking. The hotel boasts a state-of-the-art and newly renovated 24 hour fitness center, which allows you to enjoy a workout at any time of day or night. The Carlton Hotel’s new full service restaurant, Millesime, includes a lobby bar perfect for a morning coffee or evening cocktail, as well as a lively lounge area to sit back and relax.

Says the New York Times of the restaurant: “But, holy cats, is there a beautiful, even exciting brasserie up there at the end of the journey, a restaurant devoted to the pleasures of the sea that manages to be luxurious and humble, ambitious and rustic, all at once. The room has red banquettes and tile floors and soaring walls that lead toward a Tiffany-style dome ceiling. There is white paper on the tables, and glinting little Eiffel Towers of salt and pepper, small galvanized buckets holding napkin-wrapped heavy silverware, all in beautiful light. The atmosphere is festive and urban, pleasant in the extreme.”

Location

The Carlton Hotel is located in the newly developed neighborhood of NoMad, four blocks south of the Empire State Building, on 29th Street and Madison Avenue. The neighborhood, which has only just received its name, which stands for North of Madison Square Park. Formerly an area overrun with cheap perfume shops, it’s now the newest hip neighborhood in the city. NoMad has become a population hotel destination thanks to its proximity to other happening neighborhoods in the city; Ace Hotel also occupies a prime real estate spot in the area. Walk just a few blocks south and you’ll find yourself at Madison Square Park, where you’d be crazy not to try Danny Meyer’s famous Shake Shack (burgers, fries and milk shakes). Walk further south and over to Fifth Avenue and you’ll find yourself at Mario Batali’s mega Italian restaurant/grocery mecca, Eataly. Down a few more blocks and you’re in the Flatiron, a shopping haven whose streets are much less busy than Soho (this makes it bearable, even on a Saturday afternoon in Spring); even further and you hit transportation hub Union Square.  A circumference of nearly 200 miles can be seen from the Empire State Building’s highest observation tower on a very clear day. Madison Square Garden and Penn Station are five blocks from the hotel. Times Square and Radio City Music Hall are within one mile. Central Park is less than two miles away. The hotel is located between the Murray Hill and Gramercy Park neighborhoods.
