The Pierre, the iconic flagship of Taj Hotels on New York’s Fifth Avenue overlooking Central Park, re-opened on June 1, 2009 following a meticulous $100 million renovation to create new guestroom and bath interiors and reconfigure first floor public areas to include London’s classic brasserie, Le Caprice and Two E Bar/Lounge, the residential-style lounge by day and stylish bar by night. Even in a city where exclusive luxuries are the norm, there is one hotel that is far more rare and special than the rest. Possessing a fabled Central Park location in Midtown Manhattan and legendary history, The Pierre continues to set the standard for elegance and unrivaled hospitality.

The Pierre boasts a fantastic in-house restaurant. Le Caprice has established itself as a social institution in London with its effortless style, coveted cuisine and well-heeled crowd. Of all the captivating cities in the world, New York was the natural choice for Le Caprice’s first foray outside London due to the City’s classic style, charisma and distinguishing taste. The opening is also in homage to the many New Yorkers who have become regular visitors of the London restaurant over the past 30 years.
The main body of the dining room stretches along 61st Street and holds 90 guests and features a long bar which runs down the side of the restaurant. Mirroring the London restaurant and maintaining its deep-seated commitment to the art world, Le Caprice New York houses a series of photographs of iconic sixties model Jean Shrimpton by legendary British photographer, David Bailey. Long-standing favorites from the London restaurant such as Thai-baked sea bass, crispy duck and watercress salad and Scandinavian iced berries with hot white chocolate sauce continue to appear within the newly designed New York menu. There’s also a bar, Two E Bar/Lounge, which offers light fare all day and The Pierre’s coveted Afternoon Tea. A Neoclassical, residential-style lounge by day, Two E transforms into a stylish bar with modern cocktails, a relaxed intimate atmosphere and unforgettable dance parties by night.
